Hang ten pictures of plants and flowers that bear the name of Jerusalem on the board.

Divide the class into ten groups. Each group receives one of the ten flower pictures. Each group receives a fact page about the flower. They need to present the flower to the class either on a placard, through a picture, presentation or song.

The Menorah Returns to Jerusalem story. The teacher tells the story and then asks what the connection is between the Menorah and sage.

Ask the students what they think Jerusalem looks like – is it entirely urban or are there green areas too? Who is in charge of making sure that the green areas stay around in the city? Jerusalem is surrounded by hills and forests that contain unique botany, including flowers and plants that are special to the area. These ten flowers that bear the name of Jerusalem, honor Jerusalem and add glory to the plant and flower.

Planting Jerusalem flowers – a teacher who can bring sage seeds and earth can plant the seeds in a cut bottle. If it is too complicated to arrange a real plant, one can make a plastic plant – each child takes a cut bottle and fills it with earth or stones. They can then color one of the paper Jerusalem flowers and stick it in the earth. When the plant is stuck in the earth, the teacher can give them a sticker to stick on the plant container. The teacher can then tell the students that in Israel, on Tu B'Shvat, children who are their age plant trees and celebrate the birthday of the trees.

The students will get to know the plants that bear the name Jerusalem. They need to quickly decide whether to leave them in nature of to pick them. They need to leave the plants of Jerusalem and not pick them, and pick the rest of the plants.

The Jerusalem Flower Game is a fast-paced game, during which one has to identify which flowers are Jerusalem flowers and which are not.
The goal is to finish the game with the largest number of cards.
Instructions for Preparing the Game
Here are pages with 20 cards. Each card has a picture of a flower or tree, 10 cards have pictures of Jerusalem flowers and 10 cards have pictures of flowers that aren't Jerusalem flowers. The game is for 2-4 players.
How to Play?
Each player receives 20 cards. Each player puts the cards next to him with the pictures facing downwards so the pictures can't be seen. Players sit opposite each other. When everyone is ready, say 1, 2, 3 and…and start turning over the cards, each player by turn. When a Jerusalem flower appears, the players have to shout Jerusalem and the first to do so takes the entire pile of dealt cards. The turning over of the cards needs to be fast-paced. Even after a player has taken the pile, the players should carry on immediately. After each circuit, the player who took the cards adds them to his pile. The winner of the game is the one who has the largest amount of cards.
