The Seven Species Menorah
The Land of Israel was blessed with the Seven Species, which are usually eaten on Tu B’Shvat.
Tu B’Shvat is not only the “Festival of the Trees,” it is also a festive day for the Knesset because the first meeting of the Knesset took place on Tu B’Shvat in 1949. A sculpture that was given to the Knesset in honor of its fiftieth year combines the Seven Species and the Menorah- an ancient Jewish symbol representing the Jewish people and the symbol of the State of Israel, respectively.
In this lesson, we will learn about the connection between Tu B’Shvat, the Menorah, and the Knesset, which are embodied in the Seven Species Menorah sculpture that stands in the House of Representatives of the State of Israel in Jerusalem
